Liebster Blogger Award

This post is something quite different to my regular ones. Thanks to the pretty ladies Maria & Maria from M&M’s Meeting Point, I have been nominated for the Liebster Award! The Liebster Award is a fun way and also a good opportunity to discover new blogs and get more involved into beauty bloggers community.

Here are the rules:

~ You have to link back to the person that nominated you.
~ You must answer all 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
~ After completing these questions you must nominate 11 bloggers with under 200 followers and give them 11 questions of your choice.
~ You must not nominate the person who nominated you.
~ You must let your nominees know that they have been nominated and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it

So, let’s get into it!

1. How did you become a makeup lover?

I’ve always loved makeup, but I really got into makeup about a year (maybe a year and a half) ago. I fell in love with makeup mainly through Youtube tutorials.

2. What was your first makeup brand?

I believe that my first makeup brand was Rimmel – a black eyeliner my Mum had bought for me to be exact. If I had to name the first makeup brand that I owned with my own money, it would have to be e.l.f. Cosmetics.

3. Smokey eyes or bold lips?

I love me a good smokey eye but for me, bold lips just takes the cake.

4. What is your current favourite foundation?

My current favourite foundation would be the Rimmel Match Perfection.

5. How do you prefer spending summer vacations: on a beach or travelling around?

Definitely travelling around!

6. Your 3 staple beauty products

I would have to go with concealer, mascara and a red lipstick.

7. Your favourite makeup brush

My favourite brush is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush HANDS DOWN.

8. Your favourite music artist/band

I don’t have a favourite band in particular because I listen to various styles of music, but I’m currently enjoying Young the Giant and Sara Bareilles.

9. Fake tan or real tan?

Real tan, no doubt!

10. What’s your favorite summer scent?

That would be The Body Shop’s Coconut Mist.

11. What was the last book you’ve read?

The last book I’ve read is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

I nominate (in no particular order):

My 11 questions for you:

  1. What is the reason you started blogging?
  2. How did you come up with the name of your blog?
  3. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand?
  4. What piece of makeup couldn’t you live without?
  5. What’s your worst fashion disaster?
  6. If you could own only one beauty brand, what would it be?
  7. Bold lips or Smokey eyes?
  8. Favourite lipstick shade?
  9. Drugstore or High-end?
  10. Who are your top 3 favourite bloggers?
  11. What’s your favourite beauty tip?

Don’t forget to check the rules above and hope to read your answers very soon!

That’s all for today,

Top 5 Drugstore Makeup Must-Haves

As we gather more and more makeup items, it seems that every now and then we always go back to our basic most loved products. After short listing a number of essential items, I was able to narrow it down to the top 5 makeup items that I think should be must haves.

Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer  – €6.60

This baby is a life saver! It conceals those dark under eye circles making your eyes look nice and bright. I also use it to conceal any blemishes or breakouts that are currently loving my face to much to leave it alone. Nice coverage and is long-lasting. I definitely recommend!

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder – €5.19

Ladies, powder is our best friend. Unless you don’t want to look like the sun, of course. If you’re like me, and get oily in the T-zone, it’s nice to go over your makeup with a powder, keeping everything in place and matte. Some people like a dewy finish, but I personally don’t like that look on me, so I powder my entire face for a matte finish all round.

Maybelline New York The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara in Black Waterproof – €10.39

I’m not that fussy about mascaras but if I’m having a long day, I do opt for a waterproof mascara rather than the regular formula as waterproof mascara normally stays longer. With this mascara, I find that it stays put and most importantly, it doesn’t flake. This is one product that is worth the hype.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder – €15.98

Only this past year have I started using bronzer. I guess it’s one of those products that once you start using it, you never go back! I personally prefer a matte bronzer like this one, but you can always opt for something with shimmer. Just be careful when contouring with shimmery bronzer – you don’t want to become a disco ball, now do you?

Rimmel London Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 107 – €6.92

I believe that every girl should AT LEAST (I say that loosely…you obviously need more than one!!) own one red lip product. It’s one of the holy grail makeup must haves and oh how I love them! Red lipsticks are sometimes quite tricky to wear as you don’t want it to bleed or move all over the place – that’s why I suggest going for a matte finish. It’s longlasting and easier to wear. This Rimmel lipstick is quite a berry lipstick, making some people chicken out of wearing a red lip. If you want to go for something lighter, you can always go for something like the e.l.f.’s Studio Matte Lip Colour in Rich Red.

And that’s all for today!

About two weeks ago, I got the chance to go to the very hyped Malta Fashion Week Awards (MFWA)! It was a very last minute thing, as a my mum received two complementary tickets to the event and the after party just a week before (lucky, I know). I got to go with one of my besties, Christabel 🙂 The levels of excitement were high and honestly, almost stressful. Needless to say, I was stressing out like crazy on what to wear!

I finally decided and here I am to share with you, my outfit choice for the night.

Please excuse the poor quality of these photos – I was running late and took them last minute. I hope you get a gist of the look I was going for though. I apologize once again.

What I Wore:
Blazer: New Look
White Cami: Zara
Shorts: Boohoo
Clutch: New Look
Heels: New Look
Necklace: New Look
Nail Polish: KIKO Cosmetics

If you want to see a couple of pictures from the night, go check out my Instagram here 🙂

May Favourites 2014

You know time is flying by when May is already over and exams are just round corner! I was quite hesitant in gathering my May favourites because it’s the first time I had to look back on what I loved the past month. Without rambling on too much, here are a couple of things that stood out the most in May. Enjoy!

The Body Shop Coconut Body Mist – €10.50

This just smells gorgeous. I mentioned this product in my recent Body Shop Haul, if you want to go check that out 😉 This stays on for a good 4 hours i would say which is very good for a mist as they aren’t as strong as perfumes. If you like the smell of coconut, I definitely recommend this!

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil – €13.70

I’ve been using this all month long to see how it works with my skin – and I absolutely love it! It removes waterproof makeup really easily leaving your skin so clean and soft. I find that it also doesn’t dry the skin like some other cleansers do – and it’s good for all skin types, which is a plus. Oil-based products are really good for the skin as they don’t strip the skin from its natural oils, but on the contrary, they balance and nourish the skin which really helps with breakouts and acne-prone skin.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in Light Beige – €14.07

I’ve never had a CC cream before, so I was really excited to try this. It goes on really smoothly, easily an blends beautifully. It’s medium coverage but it is quite buildable so that doesn’t bother me. There are days where I really don’t feel like putting on foundation (especially because it’s so hot and humid in Malta!), so this really comes in handy. I apply it by dotting it onto my face and blending with my fingers as I find that it gives me easier and even application.

Nivea Original Lip Butter – €3

I think I have just found one of my all time lip care products! This lip butter keeps your lips so moisturised and hydrated, making them so so soft! Since the product comes in a tin container (i don’t really know how to explain it..), just make sure that you have clean hands when applying the lip butter because otherwise you’ll make the product inside the tin container really yucky and full of bacteria.

 Darkhorse by Katy Perry

I must admit, when I first heard the song, I REALLY didn’t like it. But it seems that it’s stuck on replay on radio because they can’t seem to stop playing it. This is one of those songs that I start liking after listening to it over and over. And now, I can actually say that I love it! And being honest, my favourite bit is Juicy J’s part. I try so hard to have the rapper swag when singing along…and needless to say, I fail MISERABLY. A for effort, I suppose.

Becky’s by Rebecca Borg

My favourite person of the month has to be my friend, Rebecca from Becky’s. Not only is she one of the sweetest people I know, but she is also SUPER talented at creating all kinds of yummy treats – go check her out now! For all you Maltese people who would like to try out some of her yummy goodness, you can always contact her to make an order, and believe me – you won’t be disappointed! (She had made me a dark chocolate birthday cake and it was DIVINE). Oh and Reb, if you’re reading this – SURPRISE! 🙂 x
