December Favourites 2014

dec-faves

There are only a few days left to wrap up December, so there is no better time to share with you this month’s favourites!

MaxFactor Glossfinity Nail Polish in Midnight Bronze (60)

As you may know, I’m not really a nail polish wearer, but I have been loving this nail polish! I literally have been wearing it for almost the entire month! The colour is shimmery yet not glittery and goes on ever so smoothly. I only needed two coats to get it to my preferred opacity (with is quite opaque) and doesn’t take too long to dry. Also, one great thing about it is that it if you mess up, it won’t show too much! Absolutely love it!

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara in Midnight Black (872)

I have had this mascara for a while and I can safely say that I like it as much as I love my Maybelline The Falsies. Even though it’s not waterproof, it does not smudge one bit and definitely holds a curl. Plus, the wand is beautiful! It curls your lashes so nicely without any clumping, and is very buildable. I can get away with a ‘natural’ look or else amp it up when going out 🙂

IT Style Blusher in Plum and e.l.f. Cosmetics Blusher in Rich Rose

I’m mentioning these two blushers together because even though I quite enjoy them on their own, they’re even more stunning when applied together! One is matte while the other is shimmery, so when used together, you’re not going to look like a disco ball. In fact, the shimmer from the blush kind of acts like a highlighter in itself. I find that on their own, these colours unfortunately, do not shine through (maybe because of my complexion). On the contrary, together, they give off a beautiful rose gold.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

One of the best Christmas gifts EVER! I was so thrilled when Liza decided to give me my Christmas gift early – I absolutely LOVE this palette. The colours are so stunning that I’d be happy just looking at them. I would say the most used shades are Half-BakedChopperTeaseSnakebite and Blackout, simply because I haven’t had time to experiment with all the shades yet. Nonetheless, I love it 😀 The shades are so pigmented and smooth, as well as very long-lasting. The only thing I would comment on is that since the shades are so pigmented, you certainly have to be careful with the shimmery shades so as to avoid fallout. Other than that, I cannot complain!

Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

Just like Iggy Azalea’s Fancy, this song just got me (and Liza) hooked. I rarely obsess over music, but I’m honestly obsessing over this! It is so fun and addictive! Plus, this type of music is just right up my ally. Hat’s off to Mark Ronson for such an amazing song AND to Bruno Mars for bringing it to life. I mean – look at them rollers!

And those were this month’s favourites!

Since it is the last post before Christmas, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. I hope you enjoy every minute of it 🙂

Event: The Body Shop Malta Christmas Launch

The logical thing to do when you have a lot of WAY TOO MUCH products from The Body Shop? Go to their Christmas Launch, of course!

stock-2

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to get invited to The Body Shop’s Christmas Launch, together with a other Maltese beauty bloggers.

foodies

The event took place at their Sliema outlet where we were greeted to a beautifully decorated outlet, Christmas goodies and a vibrant sea of new products. We were then invited to a short presentation about the brand Christmas theme – CANDY! The presentation boasted their natural bath & body product line were they are currently collaborating with ‘l-Istrina’, the largest annual Maltese fundraiser for charity. Through this collaboration, The Body Shop shall be donating €1 to ‘l-Istrina’ for every gift purchased from the selected line.

(That pretty lady? That’s my beautiful bestie, Frannie, of course! 😀 )

We were also given a brief overview about the makeup they have out this festive season. The stars of the line are definitely the lip and cheek stain, and the liquid liner. Even though the concept of using one product for your lips and cheeks is not something new, it is somewhat different and introductory to the Maltese market. Moreover, the liquid liners are glittery, making them perfect for the Christmas festivities. They also had the nail polishes they released at their last launch on display, which may or may not have slipped into my shopping basket…

The rest of the night consisted of a lovely chat with the ladies and the staff, and taking a lot of photos for you to see! The Body Shop were very generous by offering a 20% discount off all the gifts!  They also didn’t let us leave empty handed and gave us a couple of goodies to go along with our personal purchases.

Here is what I picked up:

Vanilla Brulee Body Polish

If you like the smell of cake batter with vanilla frosting, than this baby is perfect for you! The entire vanilla range is simply beautiful and smells divine. I went with the body polish – the scent is not too overpowering, but just right. I already used this and I already know I love it! I regret not getting the body butter though..I might end up getting it..eventually..

Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

I purchased this cleansing oil purely out of neccessity. I ran out a while ago and could barely wait until the event to get it, simply because it’s my favourite cleanser and I cannot live without it! Absolutely a must!

Colour Crush Nail Polish in Berry Gorgeous

Don’t judge me – I couldn’t resist! This gorgeous beauty was calling out my name…ok, maybe not literally, but you catch my drift. I’ve been lusting over these nail polishes since their launch, so it was high time I test them out! Plus, this stunning dark purple-plum colour is gorgeous for the Winter season.

Strawberry Hand Cream and Lip Balm Duo

I actually got this as a gift for someone 🙂 In my opinion, these little duos are perfect gifts for your friends and family. Running late on Christmas shopping? Stock up on these, and you’re covered. Plus, they make great stocking fillers!

Review: Yves Rocher Shower Gel and Silky Lotion

A few weeks back, someone had given me a birthday present which I absent-mindedly put aside. It was only recently that I had stumbled on these products and actually got to try them out! So after using them for a while, I decided that it’s only fair to give them a bit of attention 🙂

The two products are the Yellow Peach Shower Gel and Silky Lotion by the French brand, Yves Rocher. I had heard of the brand before, but I think that only recently has it made a big splash in the Maltese market. These two products came as a duo but you can definitely purchase them separately at around £5 each.

Let’s just take a minute and talk about the scent of these bath products – damn do they smell nice! Personally, I’m not a big fan of fruity scents, so I was quite surprised that I actually enjoy this one.

What I really like about the shower gel, is that it’s not too overpowering, but just gives a light, fresh scent – basically, people wouldn’t be able to smell peach as soon as you walk past them, which I personally prefer. Another great thing about the scent is that it’s not specifically a summer scent, being that it’s fresh. I find that it blends in well with the any season making it a perfect gift, no matter the occasion! The shower gel lathers up A LOT so if you’re a loofah-user like me, a little bit goes a very long way! Seriously, this shower gel will last you for ages! Talk about value for money!

With regards to the scent, I would say that the body lotion is quite similar – light and not over-powering. In addition to that, the lotion sinks into the skin amazingly fast! This is probably the one thing that really impressed me, because the lotion is quite ‘liquidy’, that it almost resembles body milk lotion. Regardless the consistency, it sinks in as soon as you work it into the skin, which is great because you won’t end up being sticky or slippery and having to wait for it to dry! I literally just slap some of this lotion on, continue with my ‘getting-ready’ routine, and in a matter of a minute or so, I would have ‘silky’ skin. That quick.

body-lotion

These were the first two products I had actually tried from the brand – and what a great way to start! Needless to say, I will definitely be trying out some more products from Yves Rocher, once I find the time to pop by their shops, that is! Apart from that, these two products are a big thumbs up, and I would definitely recommend!

And that’s all for today!
